Building a healthier, safer community isn’t just about helping and inspiring the youth. At AMAF, we want our reach to extend to our First Responders. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is both practical for and applicable to the day-to-day activities of our police, sheriffs, and state troopers.
At base level, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu can provide a physically engaging outlet for service personnel. However, due to the practical uses of the positions and submissions taught in our BJJ classes, a First Responder would be more equipped to handle a dangerous, physical situation- and more confident, if they had prior experience in BJJ.
In the future, we hope to reach out to local departments in hopes to host seminars in which we would be instructing service personnel on the various positions of ground control, their uses, and how these positions can translate to their jobs.
